Pretreatment of raw water

Wherever the raw water comes from – well, boreholes, surface water, recycled water or public drinking water - appropriate pre-treatment is needed in some industrial sectors. Raw water often contains various contaminants such as suspended solids, organic matter, hardness ions, iron, manganese, arsenic, etc. These must be partially or completely removed before the water is used in industrial processes.

Cooling water treatment

Cooling water plays an important role in the operation of installations. Failure of the cooling system can have serious consequences for the operation of the facility. Culligan also provides special water treatment solutions for cooling water systems that can:

  • Reduced water and energy consumption - cooling towers can operate at higher cycle concentrations without the risk of water scale;
  • Prevent unexpected system shutdowns, as water treatment can prevent rusting, scale or clogging of heat exchangers

 

Boiler water treatment

Culligan offers a range of options for boiler feedwater treatment, including softeners and reverse osmosis units for low pressure boilers and demineralisation units for higher pressure boilers. With Culligan boiler water treatment solutions:

Condensate recovery

By using the Culligan Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU), the high heat content, low total dissolved solids (TDS) water from the condensed steam can be recovered and recycled back into the boiler feedwater tank, helping to reduce the water heating energy required to produce steam. The benefits are:

  • Energy savings by reducing boiler blowdown
  • Reduction of chemical treatment of raw make-up water

Recovery and reuse of process water
